Many stamps are neat because they are also notable in a variety of other ways: they can be funny, heartfelt, modest, but also somber, dark, dramatic; they can contain surprising subjects, themes, metaphors, connections, intentions; some stamps are real works of art; some look like mini-posters; some have complex narratives; some can even have hidden messages and surprising details (which is why stamp collectors are often shown holding a magnifier).
